When innovative technology company Denon set out to create a new line of headphones, the company decided to skip the celebrity endorsements and run-of-the-mill designs.
The engineers started from scratch by taking ear molds of 4,000 residents in North America, South America and Asia. Denon found compelling differences between men and women, such as the width of their ear canals, as well as subtle variations among individuals.
The company took special care in designing headphones that would fit everyone, while customizing headphones for various lifestyles. The headphones have a special ball-and-socket design, and the in-ear versions come with many sets of ear tips for individualized comfort.
Denon says its lifestyle headphones are inspired by how music lovers live. For example, the Global Cruiser wireless headphones inspired by travelers, comes with removable ear pads and a sleek carrying case. Connecting the cables automatically turns off the wireless connection and battery in airplane mode.
The company focuses on the design details that improve sound and function. The ear pads on its headphones are pentagonal — not the usual circular or oval — to fit the ear’s natural edges. The headphones are also form-fitting to the depression under the ear lobe that differs in depth on everyone.
While headphones are designed for maximum comfort, sound never takes a backseat. These earphones are noise-isolating, deliver pure acoustics and enabled for bass-boosting.
