We’re not sure what would come first here — picking your bikini design or selecting your beach read. Either way, Kate Imbach’s idea is genius.

Imbach, who lives in San Francisco, started matchbook.nu after a vacation she took just a couple of weeks ago.

“I noticed a woman at the pool reading a book that incidentally matched her bathing suit almost perfectly. So when I got home, I started looking at lots of book covers and bikinis,” she says. “After awhile, I started to make some interesting connections between the two.”

Imbach doesn’t actually design the bathing suits herself, but she carefully selects each of the clever matches.

“I think the Kurt Vonnegut match is the most mind-blowing,” she says. “I love this Chromat suit and its match, Crime and Punishment — the cover and the content is amazing. I love this Sloane Crosley coverand it took me a long, long time to find the perfect match.”
